NCOB Chair, Sarah Cunningham-Burley shares further reflections on the new Government’s agenda and where she believes the Government can use ethical insights to strengthen and diversify research and innovation.

As co-chair of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) advisory board to the Environment and Health priority area, John Coggon was delighted to contribute to the recent Oxford Global Health and Bioethics International Conference.

The UK is a world leader in the regulation of fertility treatment and research involving human embryos, but advances in our ability to create and culture human stem cell- based embryo models is pushing us into an ethical grey area, which will need guidance . Guidance is needed if we are to navigate this successfully – making the most of its potential while maintaining public trust and adhering to our values.
