The Nuffield Council on Bioethics warmly welcomes news of the Health Research Authority (HRA) public involvement service for COVID-19 studies.
All applicants for HRA approvals for COVID-19 research are strongly encouraged to involve people with relevant lived experience in the design, conduct, and dissemination of their studies. To support this, the HRA has established a public involvement matching service
to connect researchers and public involvement networks. As of 4 June, the database has details of 21 networks across the UK ready to support COVID-19 research.
The Nuffield Council is a strong proponent of community and patient engagement in research. We believe that involving people at all stages of research is a vital part of conducting research ethically. We are pleased to share the news of this important and timely HRA initiative.
