Applications open for new Council members

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is looking to recruit a number of new Council members to be part of the deliberative body that drives the intellectual function of the organisation.

Applications are now closed.

The main responsibilities of the role are to decide on the future work programme and strategic direction of the Council, scrutinise and ensure the quality of reports and other outputs, and make decisions on the membership and function of the organisation. There are also opportunities to become involved in projects such as working groups, workshops and the production of publications such as briefing materials.

We are seeking applications for new Council members from a broad range of disciplines and would particularly welcome applicants with experience in the following areas:

Candidates need not be directly involved in the field of bioethics, but they should be able to demonstrate an interest and appreciation of the issues. Key qualities include a willingness to contribute to bioethical debate in an open and constructive manner.

We would welcome applications from a broad range of individuals, including non- academics, and from people at all stages in their careers. If you are interested in learning more, please see the information pack for further information.

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion – we welcome and encourage applications from everyone.

Applications should be in the form of a brief statement of interest, a short curriculum vitae, and the names of two individuals we could approach for a comment as to your suitability for membership. Please send applications to Carol Perkins at cperkins@nuffieldbioethics.org. The closing date for submissions is Monday 6 January 2020.

If you would like first to talk informally about the Council and how it works, please feel free to contact us. Please email or call Carol Perkins on 020 7681 9619 / cperkins@nuffieldbioethics.org.
